International experts recognize the TranspoNet Ultra Station for its quality and innovation in 2014 competition for design excellence.
Swisslog Healthcare Solutions (HCS), the leading provider of hospital automation for material handling and medication management, today announced it has won the 2014 Red Dot Award for product design. The award-winning Ultra Station combines modern design with the latest technology for intuitive functionality. A component of the TranspoNet Pneumatic Tube System, Ultra Station sends and receives medications, lab specimens, blood and other critical materials for transport throughout hospitals.
„Ultra Station, with its enhanced ergonomics and acoustics, represents the next generation of pneumatic tube systems,“ states Karsten Wangelin, Head of Healthcare Solutions Central Europe. „The Red Dot Award acknowledges this new station“s advanced design and capability.“ This year“s Red Dot competition featured 4,815 entries from 53 countries. A 40-member expert panel chose the Swisslog Ultra Station for its high design quality and innovative strength.
Red Dot CEO and founder Dr. Peter Zec, notes, „[Our] experts assessed the quality of the entries with the utmost care and attention…But only the best products receive an award from the jury. This is especially reflected in the percentage of successful entries in the Red Dot Award, which is much smaller in contrast to other international design competitions. Therefore, the winners can be proud of their achievements – with their entries, they stood out from the rest and were able to pass the test in front of the critical eyes of the experts.“
Design winners are celebrated during a presentation at the acclaimed Red Dot Gala on 7 July 2014. The award-winning products will be presented in a special exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany from 8 July to 3 August 2014.
Hospitals worldwide rely on automated solutions from Swisslog to increase workflow efficiency and improve the patient experience. The new Ultra Station, part of a complete system for automated material transport, will be featured at the 70th China Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) in April in Shenzhen, China.
